This remodel included the front offices and animal occupied spaces and was an active remodel, allowing Elmbrook Humane Society to remain open during construction. This project was complete in two phases: the offices were remodeled first and the animal occupied spaces second.

The front office space was reconfigured with a new layout. The interior spaces in the new layout include reception area, business marketplace/store, private offices, conference rooms, storage rooms, and an animal triage room.

Animal occupied spaces were reconfigured to provide additional animal suites that met the needs of the cats, dogs and the client’s specifications. In addition to the cat and dog suites, other interior spaces include cat counsel rooms, a kitchen for cat food prep, new small animal room, new volunteer office, new break room, and new dish-wash room.

Attention to the material selections was vital in this project to ensure that the selected materials were safe for the animals, durable and easy to maintain and sanitize. The animal suites were designed to minimize noise transfer between the suites and make it secure for the animals but easy for staff and volunteers to access.
